Most Unwanted

There is a large number of potential and established non-native species on the island of Ireland but which of these are have damaging effects on native species and ecosystems and which will lend themselves to management?

A risk assessment has been carried out to help answer these questions. This process was designed to take into account the economic and legislative obligations of both jurisdictions.

The most unwanted species have been selected from the highest scoring of all the species assessed. Information on each of these species is provided below. Detailed management plans and best practice guidance are available in downloads and resources section.
